Working together

‘Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators.  When parents and practitioners work together in early years settings, the results have a positive impact on children’s development and learning.’  EYFS 2017

Positive Relationships is a key theme within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  The principle is that ‘children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and / or a key person’.  Building up positive relationships with children and parents are crucial to ensure the child feels safe and secure and ready to learn and that the parents feel assured that their child is safe, well cared for and receiving a high quality early education, which will have an impact on their later development.

Working Together to build strong relationships we encourage parents to be actively involved in nursery life.  Our relationship begins at your child’s introduction visits and continues throughout their time with us and beyond.  Together we eagerly share information about your child’s well being, interests and their experiences from home.

Learning Stories are a celebration of your child’s development and achievements.  The learning story includes contributions from both the child’s key person and you as their parents.  The photographs, observations, pieces of work, summaries of achievement and formal assessments outline your child’s interests, their stages of development and how we are planning for their future.

Parent Consultation Meetings are held regularly for you to meet with your child’s key person and discuss in more detail your child’s development.  There will be an opportunity to look through your child’s learning story and their recent progress reports as well as an opportunity for you to continue your contribution to their story.

Feedback and Suggestions from our parents and carers are important to us, we are keen to listen and respond appropriately.
